Program
First sails and supportive days on the water, for people who need it most.
Why it matters
Many people have lived near the water their whole lives without once going sailing. Others are facing serious illness or a hard season of life, when a few hours on the water can mean a great deal.
What participants do
How this program helps
First-sail days are introductory education: participants learn the basics of seamanship and safety, and those who want more can move into our other programs.
Supportive days provide relief for people facing illness or hardship, arranged with partners who bring the right care and support. Every supportive day also includes a hands-on introduction to sailing. No one has to prove progress for a supportive day to matter, and we don’t promise a therapeutic outcome.
Who it serves
First-sail days are for people who have never had a way onto the water. Supportive days are for people facing serious illness or major hardship.
First-sail participants apply directly. Supportive days are arranged through referrals from hospitals, hospices and community care organizations. Under 18 needs a parent’s consent.

Impact Sailing Foundation identifies, funds, connects, and amplifies opportunities through sailing — for youth and adults across Annapolis and Baltimore, with priority for those who face barriers to the water: no boat, no club, no connection.
Sailing is an open sport on closed water. Age, gender, race, ability, or income shouldn’t decide who gets to sail, compete, and build a future on the water. Every program serves that same mission: a first sail, real skills, offshore experience, and the careers and confidence that come with them.
